Belmond is a city in Wright County, which was established on January 15, 1851. The county was named for two men named Wright: Silas Wright (1795-1847) who had served as a governor of New York, and Albert Wright (1810-1867), who had served as a governor of Indiana. The county seat is Clarion, which was established in 1865.
