Shenandoah is a town in Page County, which was established on February 24, 1847. Page County is named in honor of Captain John Page (1795-1846) who was killed in 1846 at the Battle of Palo Alto in the Mexican War. The county seat is at Clarinda. Page County received two Carnegie grants for Shenandoah and Clarinda.
