Sanborn is a town in O’Brien County, which was established on January 15, 1851. The county was named for William Smith O’Brien (1803-1864) an Irish patriot. The county seat is at Primghar. O’Brien county received two Carnegie grants for the towns of Sanborn and Sheldon.
